This is a 5-star rear safety light compared to other lights in its price range. There are better ones available, even better Planet Bike "blinky" rear lights such as the Superflash Turbo, but the better ones are more expensive – sometimes MUCH more expensive – and/or use external battery packs. This light is only marginally useful for daytime riding, but it's more than adequate for nighttime, dawn/dusk, or rain. I appreciate that it requires standard AAA batteries. It works great with PRECHARGED rechargeables (they last longer and can be stored charged for a long time and still have plenty of charge left). Another bonus is that it uses the very nice mounts that most of Planet Bikes other lights use, making it easy to move it from one spot on your bike to another or to share among all your bikes just by purchasing a few extra mounts. Two different mounts and two thicknesses of shims are included in the box.
